Interactive map: Decline in girls’ math performance in California schools
The Associated Press and EdSource analyzed district-level data from the Stanford Education Data Archive, which measures how far above or below grade level students scored on their state’s standardized tests.
The interactive map below shows how the gender gap in math test scores shifted across California school districts after the pandemic. In 2018-19, girls outperformed boys in 62.2% of districts. By 2023-24, that number dropped to just 4.1% of districts.
